Asda Rewards First Birthday Spin To Win

Asda are celebrating the first anniversary of their Rewards App by giving their members the chance to spin the wheel in their app each day that they spend £5 in store or online. The promotion runs throughout September 2023.

The promotion has now finished for Asda Rewards’ first birthday month. However, there’s a second promotion running for October 2023. The details are here.

Customers need to scan their Rewards App in store, or have the App linked to their online shopping account with Asda to qualify. The spin is credited to the app after the delivery is completed by the driver to the customer, or collected from Asda by the customer in the case of click and collect.

There are seven different prize amounts on the wheel, ranging from 50p up to £100. Every spin wins a prize, so anyone that qualifies for a spin should receive at least 50p back against their shopping of £5 or more.

According to the App, there are at least 10 million prizes to be won, with the minimum number of prizes in each category as follows:

PrizeMinimum Prizes
50p4,440,000 (4.44 million)
£1.005,000,000 (5 million)
£2.00400,000 (Four hundred thousand)
£3.00100,000 (One hundred thousand)
£5.0030,000 (Thirty thousand)
£10.0020,000 (Twenty thousand)
£100.0010,000 (Ten thousand)

When you spin the wheel, you’ll see a representation of the prizes available. It’s a circle divided into seven equal sections, each containing one of the amounts in the table above. Tap the screen to spin the wheel, and you’ll win the amount that the wheel stops on.

Is The Asda Spin To Win Game Rigged?

On social media, some people are claiming that the game is fixed or rigged, however clearly from the terms of the competition, the wheel is far more likely to stop on the 50p or £1 segments or the wheel than the higher amounts. In fact, based on the number of prizes on offer, it is possible that your chances of winning £1 is higher than 50p.

How Is The Prize Chosen?

Asda have not published details of how the prizes are allocated, however, it’s highly likely that the process involves a random selection from the prizes remaining.

There are two likely possible ways that it’s done, either determined at the point the spin is added to the customer’s App account, or alternatively at the point the customer chooses to spin the wheel.

Either way, the prize won will be represented by where the wheel stops rather than chosen by it.

How Often Can I Spin The Wheel?

You can earn one spin per day at Asda, and each spin can be stored in the App for up to seven days. In theory, that should mean you can save them up and spin up to seven times in a row.

We’ve seen reports of people getting bonus spins added by Asda when they appear in the app, usually with one or two more spins than expected being added, giving a total of two or three spins.

It’s not clear whether this is intentional or a bug in the app, however it’s likely that it would have been fixed quickly if there was a problem, so is likely deliberate. If that’s the case, the criteria isn’t clear as to how they’re earned.

How Do I Get My Prize?

When you win a prize on the wheel, the amount will be added to your Cashpot in the Asda Rewards App. It often takes a few minutes to appear, so if it’s not there straight away, close the app and check again later.

You can create a voucher in the app using your Cashpot balance to reduce to total at the checkouts in Asda, which just need to be scanned with the items in your basket or trolley. If you shop online for delivery or to collect, any vouchers created should come off your total when you pay online.
